Councilmembers and landlords who’ve been eager to avoid a public referendum on changing Hoboken’s rent control laws have agreed on a compromise to fulfill that goal. An automated license plate reader helped the Secaucus Police Department bust trio that was shoplifting from Home Depot last week, Police Chief Dennis Miller announced. Wueilver Vasquez-Martinez, 25, Danyer Jimenez Naspe, 22, and Zallireth Rigio, 33, all of New York, New York, were each charged with shoplifting, conspiracy to commit shoplifting, and using an anti-shoplifting device, Miller said in a statement.
