JOAN KEE TO LEAD NYU’S INSTITUTE OF FINE ARTS
Art historian Joan Kee has been announced as the next director of New York University’s Institute of Fine Arts. She will step into her new role on August 19. Currently a professor of the history of art at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, Kee is an expert in modern and contemporary art of Asia and the United States. She holds a law degree from Harvard and a Ph.D. from the IFA.

Overall crime in the city was down for the sixth straight month, according to the latest data released by the NYPD. “We have had a full-frontal assault on disorder and when you have six straight months of a decrease in crime, it says that the initiatives we are putting in place, they are working,” Mayor Eric Adams said Wednesday. “New York City is the safest big city in America.”
Dursts look to sell major East Harlem dev site
The Dursts are looking to sell their large development site in East Harlem after the state hammered out a replacement for 421a. The Durst Organization put its property at 1800 Park Avenue up for sale, a spokesperson for the company confirmed to The Real Deal. It wasn’t clear what price the company is targeting, but with nearly 700,000 square feet of buildable floor area available, a deal could easily reach into nine figures.

Gary Barnett’s Extell Development is changing up the financing at its quick-selling luxury condo building on the Upper West Side. Jerusalem Venture Partners, the project’s mezzanine lender which goes by JVP, has taken on the project’s senior debt, replacing Bank OZK by refinancing $620 million in construction loans and issuing $70 million in new debt, a representative of Extell confirmed.

Man, 20, stabbed to death on Washington Heights street
A 20-year-old man was fatally stabbed on the street in Washington Heights on Tuesday, and police are investigating the homicide. Mateo Solis was found just before 3 a.m. near Saint Nicholas Avenue and West 185th Street with a stab wound to the back.
