Pentucket Bank Charitable Foundation Gives $12,500 to Lawrence DyeWorks Redevelopment
The Pentucket Bank Charitable Foundation recently donated $12,500 to Lawrence Community Works. The money will contribute to Lawrence Community Works’ Capital Campaign for the transformation of the DyeWorks mill building into the hub of a new neighborhood in the historic North Canal Mill District of Lawrence. The redevelopment of DyeWorks will include a new, expanded home for LCW’s successful Movement City Youth Program; full-service, culturally competent, Latinx-owned grocery store that would eliminate a food desert; and new outpost of the Greater Lawrence Family Health Center providing an urgent care facility, preventive health services and a low-cost pharmacy for city residents.

Afghan refugees on the North Shore find homes through a creative plan that could help many more
The basement of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Newburyport, which for more than two years had served as a makeshift home for two very large Afghan families, was abuzz with activity and excitement. Teenagers and an older man carried boxes up the basement stairs and outside. Women kept an eye on younger children running around, as they removed sheets from beds and told kids to help. Outside the church, 19-year-old Afzal led the way for his younger brothers and sisters, pulling a hand cart loaded with boxes down the brick walkway.

Gourmet burger chain closes its only Boston-area location
[This story first appeared on Boston Restaurant Talk.]. A gourmet burger chain that got its start overseas has closed its sole Boston-area location. According to a poster within the Friends of Boston's Hidden Restaurants Facebook group page, Burgerim in Burlington is no longer in operation, with a sign out front saying that it has permanently closed. The dining spot first opened at Middlesex Marketplace in the early part of 2020, being part of a chain with roots in Israel though it is now headquartered in California.
