The Trump and American flags were waving near Mar-a-Lago on Saturday night, after news broke of a failed assassination attempt on the former president.

Dozens of Trump supporters tell CBS 12 News their resolve for the man has only grown stronger.

“I just thought it was crazy. I don’t- you don’t want him to get assassinated. I just want a fair race and so I was like wow, that’s tough. But he’s okay, that’s all that matters,” said Charlie, a West Palm Beach resident.

“The same moment he got shot, the secret service jumped on top of him. He went up with the fist up saying “fight, fight, fight,’” said Joaquin Gutierrez, a West Palm Beach resident.

“Honestly, I wasn’t surprised. Everything that they have done to him with the cases, the indictments, it’s all political. It’s so political. So this, to be honest, I was expecting,” said Alex Gonzalez, an immigrant from Cuba now living in West Palm Beach.

“I said you know what, we gotta pray and we gotta come out and rally people. So I got the group together and we held hands today, we prayed for president trump’s protection, we prayed for his family, we prayed for the person who lost their life and their family, and we prayed for the nation to heal,” said Brandon Young, a pastor from Delray Beach.

Trump did not fly to Palm Beach after being released from a Pennsylvania hospital, rather he flew to New Jersey Saturday night before heading to Milwaukee yesterday for the Republican National Convention.
