Palm Beach County is currently sweltering through what is now the eighth heat advisory of the month. A heat advisory is issued in Palm Beach County when heat index temperatures are expected to be 108 degrees or higher for at least two hours.

Recently the heat index in West Palm Beach hit 114 degrees in the early afternoon and remained over 105 degrees for eight hours. According to meteorologists, the recent triple-digit index temperatures can be attributed to a combination of normal seasonal heat and the appearance of Saharan dust.
