The West Palm Beach home of the late news anchor and political commentator Lou Dobbs is under contract for sale after being put on the market in late April for $3.1 million, according to the Realtor handling the listing.

Agent Kathleen Gannon, with the Wellington-based Kathleen Gannon Realty, said she can't disclose the agreed upon price until the deal is closed but said the estate is in the exclusive 21-home Eagle's Isle community of Ibis Golf and Country Club.

"It's the nicest street in Ibis," said Gannon, of the four-bedroom, 5,100-square-foot home. "It's on a great lot with great views of the golf course."

Dobbs' death was announced on social media by his family on July 18. He was 78.

Dobbs was a longtime newsman beginning as a police and fire rescue reporter for a radio station in Yuma, Arizona in the early 1970s. He joined CNN as its chief economics correspondent when it launched in 1980. The conservative pundit and author also had his own radio shows and worked at Fox Business Network until 2021 when his program was canceled.

    He also co-founded Space.com in 1999.

In a 2013 interview with The Palm Beach Post, Dobbs said that when he walks into his West Palm Beach home he "immediately" relaxes. According to The Post article, Dobbs fell in love with Palm Beach County after he visited in the early 1990s and bought the West Palm Beach home in 2005 to use for a "very long time."

The home at 7112 Eagle Terrace was built in 1999, and purchased by Dobbs and his wife Debi for $2 million, according to Palm Beach County Property Appraiser records. It was not homesteaded, which is an indication that the owner did not consider it a primary residence.

It is heralded in an online sales listing for its coffered ceilings, crown molding, stone fireplace and Saturnia travertine tile floors. In addition to a primary bedroom with a sitting area and walk-in custom built closets, three other bedrooms include en suite bathrooms. There is also a negative edge pool with a rock waterfall from a spa area. A premier golf membership is included as an option upon closing, according to the listing.

The home's original list price was reduced this month from $3.1 million to $2.9 million.
