The new acting director of the U.S. Secret Service is a former West Palm Beach police officer.

Ronald Rowe Junior is now leading the federal agency, after the resignation of former director Kimberly Cheatle in the wake of the assassination attempt on former President Trump.

Rowe joined the Secret Service 24 years ago, after first patrolling the streets of West Palm Beach. Rowe was with the police department's SWAT team and served on a high-profile police enforcement team that tackled the city's crack cocaine epidemic in the 1990s.

More recently, Rowe was serving as deputy director of the Secret Service.

Despite leaving for Washington in 1999, Rowe earned a master's degree at Lynn University in Boca Raton in 2007.
