Top swimmers compete in league championship
The Paris Olympics isn't the only event with swimming competition. The Youngstown Swim League held their championships Saturday at the Applewood Swim & Tennis Club. More than 100 swimmers, ages 6-18 competed in the meet and came from Applewood Swim & Tennis Club, Boardman Tennis and Swim Club, Poland Swim Club, Firestone Swim Club, Warren Olympic and various country clubs.

Howland man accused of threatening to choke and punch girlfriend’s 6-year-old son; police arrest him
A 38-year-old Howland Township man was arrested and charged with aggravated menacing after a Niles woman reported to police that her boyfriend threatened to choke her and punch her 6-year-old son. Police reported that the two had argued on the telephone sometime Thursday, July 18 when the threats were made.

According to the report, the victim received a text message from a number claiming to be "Huntington Bank Fraud" on July 18.
