(FOX40.COM) — The city of West Sacramento received $30,000 on Thursday to replace drinking fountains that are in need of upgrades at some of its parks.

The funding comes from the nonprofit West Sac Play, which raised the money to replace five water fountains that are “past their prime” with hydration stations. The city was presented with a check for the money at a presentation at Bridgeway Island Park.

The hydration stations will feature drinking fountains, water bottles refill spigots and water bowls for dogs attached to each base.

Over the past 10 years, West Sac Play, a nonprofit dedicated to enhancing play spaces, has raised more than $80,000 for a variety of park amenities including shade coverings at several playgrounds, according to the city of West Sacramento.

There are 39 parks in West Sacramento, city officials said.
