Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Indiana wanted him, and West Seneca police say he'll soon go back there.

According to West Seneca Police, a traffic stop on the I-90 West on Tuesday led to the arrest of Michael Wayne Gordon, wanted on two Level 1 felony counts of child molesting, as well as a Level 5 count of failure to register as a sex offender. Gordon was pulled over for a passenger not wearing a seatbelt and a cracked windshield.

Officers say he was on his way to the Erie County Fairgrounds, but could not produce a valid driver's license. He could only provide his carnival company ride operator ID card with the name of "James Davis"

Gordon was taken into custody and returned to the West Seneca Police Department, where he was cited for several commercial vehicle violations and taken to the Erie County Holding Center to await extradition.

The Erie County Fair issued the following statement Wednesday afternoon:

"It has been brought to our attention that an individual (Michael Wayne Gordon) was taken into custody yesterday by the West Seneca Police Department for extraditable warrants related to child molestation offenses in the State of Indiana. Allegedly, the individual was transporting rides to the Erie County Fair. Mr. Gordon, of Kokomo, Indiana is not an employee of the Erie County Agricultural Society (producers of the Erie County Fair) nor of the carnival ride operator for the Erie County Fair.

"The Erie County Agricultural Society takes issues like this extremely seriously. Safety is our top priority on the Fairgrounds. Prior to employment, we verify that Erie County Fair employees are not on the National Sex Offender Registry and require the same of our major vendors on the grounds, including the carnival ride operator for the Fair.

"We commend the West Seneca Police Department, NYS DOT and U.S. Marshals Service for apprehending this individual."
