At Mountain State Spotlight, we aim to go beyond the polls and press releases to get you informative, explanatory and accountability election reporting.

As the 2024 general election nears, we’re adapting the Citizens Agenda , a project to make election reporting more responsive, inclusive and useful for voters.

Now, as we approach November, we want to know the questions you’d like to hear candidates answer during this election season.

So, tell us: What do you want candidates to be talking about as they ask for your vote?

Click here to take the 1-minute survey

Earlier this year, we asked readers to help us shape our election reporting ahead of the May primary. Nearly 200 people responded , sharing the issues they wanted to hear candidates talk about, from health care to economic concerns and the well-being of West Virginia’s children.

For the general election, we’re changing the way we’re asking the question to invite a wider variety of responses.

Just like during the primary, we’ll read every answer, and we’ll look for patterns and recurring themes. Then, we’ll follow up with questions for you to help us prioritize.

Your input helps us hold candidates accountable to the people they want to represent.
