Ilion's Duofold building suffers partial collapse
ILION — Public safety officials from Ilion were dispatched to the vacant Duofold complex at 7 Spruce St. last week for a possible building collapse. After the arrival of officials from Ilion’s fire and police departments, as well as the mayor’s office, at 4:20 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16, it was determined that a partial collapse of the west-end structure of the complex had occurred. The structure, officials say, had collapsed and pulled away from the connected building, leaving the far west portion of the building still standing. Officials also noted that a debris field was spread across the entire south side of the building, with the largest pile of debris remaining in the vicinity of the collapse.

Mount Upton Man Charged With Attempted Murder, Assault After Hitting Person With Vehicle
A Mount Upton man is charged after state police say he deliberately struck another person with a vehicle and fled the scene. According to state police, troopers responded to County Route 18 and State Highway 51 in Butternuts, Otsego County around 8 p.m. on Sunday evening, where they found a victim that had been intentionally struck by a vehicle and the driver had fled the scene. The victim was taken to Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City for treatment for serious injuries, but state police say the victim is expected to survive.
