Empty-nesters Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas are selling their luxurious $12 million Westchester County, NY, mansion.
“When I purchased our Irvington home I knew our family would share many happy times here, and we have!” Zeta-Jones told the Wall Street Journal of the palatial riverfront home they purchased five years ago.
The “Mask of Zorro” actress, 54, and Douglas, 79 — who share son Dylan, 23, and daughter Carys, 21 — decided to list their home now that both of their children have flown the coop .
“Now that both our son and daughter have left the nest it seems like the right time to sell,” Zeta-Jones shared, adding that they plan on spending most of their time in Bermuda and Europe.
The couple, who tied the knot in 2000, purchased the 12-acre estate for $4.5 million in 2019 and renovated the home, dubbed Longmeadow, while preserving its original 1920s features.
The four-story pad — spanning 11,653 square feet — exudes opulence and timeless splendor, thanks to its Georgian-style brick and stone design, and features eight en-suite bedrooms and 12 bathrooms.
The first floor includes an indoor pool, a gym and a recreation room. The formal living room, salon, study, family room and kitchen are attached to a 30-foot interior gallery.
The gourmet chef’s kitchen has a modern farmhouse feel, with white-tiled walls, marble countertops, Miele appliances and gold hardware detailing.
The two-story library has an heir of elegance thanks to its wood-paneled walls, black-brick wood-burning fireplace, round-topped French windows and an antique candle and crystal chandelier.
In contrast, the living room has a more contemporary aesthetic, with clean white walls and furniture and eye-catching modern art to pull the space together.
