Season of Confidence for Nodaway Valley Golf

(Greenfield, IA)- Things can change quickly over an offseason, especially for high school sports. The Nodaway Valley golf team is just one of many teams around Southwest Iowa that has to deal with the loss of seniors and the increase of incoming freshman to the squad. For head coach Joel Klobnak, this offseason brought an increase in numbers with some major losses to the team as well. Nonetheless, some things are set to stay the same. Many of the girls’ team frontrunners were lost to graduation last year but there is still a strong core to build around.

Meanwhile, the boys’ team is able to hold onto their strong five from last season and should be able to make a push this season to sweep some tournaments. Add the addition of some promising newcomers and you have a recipe for success.

In his final season as head coach for the Wolverines, Klobnak has high aspirations for his golfers this season looking to fill this season with plenty of fun and plenty of time at the state tournament. To be able to back up these aspirations he’s having his golfers focus on confidence in themselves and their game in order to increase their golf smarts and focus during the season. So far, they’ve been working on their wedge play so they become more aware of what clubs to use in different situations rather than resorting to what’s comfortable.

While Nodaway Valley continues to build confidence in all the clubs in their bag, they’ve got just under two weeks until their first meets of the season on April 1st.
