Timberwolves Change Offense — Hoping for More Production in 2024

(Corning, IA) — If it doesn’t work, you gotta fix it. Southwest Valley football Head Coach Keegan Longabaugh is hoping that a switch in offense will produce more wins for the Timberwolves.

In 2023, Southwest Valley used a standard shotgun pistol formation with the running back behind the quarterback. It lead to a 2-6 record and winless in the district. So Longabaugh has scrapped it and is going to a more traditional offense with the QB under center and using more mis direction. Longabaugh is happy with the results he’s seen so far

One area that Southwest Valley has emphasized more is getting the kids in the weight room. Longabaugh says they have implemented a new off-season weights program and the kids have bought in

On the field, the Timberwolves lose QB Evan Timmerman but Junior Wyatt Mendenhall saw some time at the position. Junior Gavin Wetzel (18 receptions, 173 yards) was the team’s leading receiver and there is still some answers at RB and on defense according to Longabaugh

Southwest Valley opens their season on Friday, August 30 with a non district game at Red Oak.
