Harlan Grad Leads NW Missouri St. on Offensive Line

(Maryville, MO) — The NW Missouri St. football team is just one week away from their season opener.

The Bearcats open 2024 ranked #22 in the NCAA Division II poll and are coming off a disappointing 7-4 record — a season where they failed to make the playoffs after 18 consecutive seasons.

NW Missouri St. had injuries last season at quarterback and Head Coach Rich Wright has not named a starter for his opener as of yet. The Bearcats must replace star Running Back Jay Harris who took his 1,433 rushing yards and transferred to D I Oregon.

Wright says the strongest part of his offense coming into the season is the offensive line and its anchored on the right side by Harlan grad Derec Weyer. The Senior Tackle is in his third season at NW Missouri St. and has started every game the last two season. Wright says he actually transferred to the Bearcats from SW Minnesota St.

Normally the leader of an offense is the quarterback but Wright says everybody is looking at Weyer as the main guy this year

NW Missouri St. opens their season next Thursday, August 29 as they host #13 Minnesota St.
