One Person Killed, Three Others Injured in Palo Alto County Accident

(Palo Alto Co.) One person died and three others were injured in a two-vehicle accident in Palo Alto County Friday afternoon.

The Iowa State Patrol says 32-year-old Desiree Angela Sternhagen, of Janesville, Minnesota, was driving a 2013 Kia southbound on 480th Avenue and failed to stop and yield at the intersection with 370th Street. 34-year-old Mathia Kay Nieves, of Emmetsburg, was driving a 2018 Mitsubishi westbound on 370th Street and was struck in the passenger side by the Kia.

67-year-old Ernest Eugene Manwarren, of Emmetsburg, a passenger in the Mitsubishi was fatally injured.

Desiree Sternhagen, Mathia Nieves and passenger, 33-year-old Justin Eugene Manwarren of Emmetsburg, were all transported to the Palo Alto Hospital by Palo Alto Ambulance.
