(Red Oak) The Montgomery County Board of Supervisors approved an informal resolution regarding a complaint to the Iowa Public Information Board. County Supervisor Mark Peterson read the resolution, acknowledging the county at an open meeting that there are sufficient facts about the unintentional failure to act in the open session required by Iowa Code 23.1.

Peterson, the county will establish a checklist for closed sessions in compliance with the Iowa Code and provide the IPIB with all the elements required.

County Supervisor Donna Robinson went on record stating this was a mistake.

Supervisor Chairman Mike Olson, per the resolution, acknowledges sufficient facts to show the county failed to act during the regular meeting on July 2, 2024, as required by the Iowa Code regarding the following particulars.

Supervisor Mark Peterson says the resolution’s keywords are unintentional and human error. The reason for holding the closed session was to discuss the carbon pipeline.
