    Atlantic School Board Votes to Not Hire a Superintendent Search Firm

    (Atlantic) The Atlantic School Board voted four to one to not hire a Superintendent search firm.

    Superintendent Dr. Beth Johnsen is in her second year of a two-year interim Superintendent contract and the Board’s intent is to hire a permanent Superintendent.

    The Board came to the decision to not hire a Superintendent search firm after receiving several comments that it would be best to not waste money on a firm when they are already on a good track with Dr. Beth Johnsen who has stated she would be interested is staying in the position.

    The following comments are from Board members Josh McLaren and Gini Jordan…

    The Board approved a motion to not hire a search firm and the next time they do a Superintendent evaluation they discuss a contract with Dr. Johnsen. Laura McLean voted no. She had stated that she would like to keep the promise of hiring a firm to do a full search including getting input from the public and the staff.

    The School Board also approved the following:

    Resignations

    Jordan Zarbano, Evening High School Custodian

    Lindsey Thomas, Elementary Special Education paraprofessional, effective 10/09/24

    Retirement

    Jon Peterson, Middle School Teacher, effective end of 24-25 school year

    Harrison Hoegh, Volunteer HS Football Coach, non-paid position

    Dan Vargason, Interim HS Girls Soccer Coach

    CTSO sponsors requirement for Perkins Grant funds

    2024 Volunteer Coaches for Winter Sports

    2025 Spring Sport Coaches

    Mackenzie Morris, Elementary Special Education Paraprofessional
