Georgia Man Arrested Following Pursuit in Guthrie County
(Guthrie Co) A Georgia man was arrested after a high-speed chase in Guthrie County on Tuesday. According to the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office, 58-year-old Paul William Bolin of Athens, Georgia, was driving a 2020 Toyota Camry when he passed a fully marked squad car at an excessive speed. Radar clocked his speed at 83 mph. When the deputy activated the emergency lights and siren, Bolin accelerated further, reaching speeds of 97 mph.

Griswold School Board Approves Board Policies Along with Changes
(Griswold) The Griswold School Board passed the first reading of a series of board policies, including numerous changes. Schools Superintendent Dave Henrichs says one of those changes concerns weapons. He says schools can now allow staff members to carry weapons on district property if they have received the proper training. (Iowa City, IA) – Iowa’s Cade Obermueller was picked up by the Texas Rangers in the 19th Round of the 2024 MLB Draft as the 585th overall pick. The Iowa City native earned a 3.93 ERA with a 4-3 record with 13 overall starts in 2024. The left-hander earned 73 strikeouts over 59.2 innings while allowing 26 earned runs on 39 hits. In his career 28 games played with Iowa, he earned a 6-4 record and a 4.19 ERA. With 15 games played for Iowa, Obermueller had 109 strikeouts in 81 2/3 innings of work.
Creston Teen Transported to the Hospital Following a Two-Vehicle Accident
(Creston) A Creston teen was transported to the hospital following a two-vehicle accident this (Wednesday) morning. The Creston Police Department says the 15-year-old male was driving a 2023 Moped north on Mulberry Street and stopped at the intersection of Townline Street. The teen stated he looked before going into the intersection and as he left the stop sign, attempting to turn left, he was struck by a 2024 Nissan, driven by Oscar Alvarez.
Former Harlan Cyclone Brett Sears Chosen in Seventh Round of MLB Draft
(Lincoln, NE) – Nebraska senior Brett Sears was chosen in the seventh round of the Major League Baseball Draft by the Atlanta Braves, making him the No. 221 pick overall. He is the fourth player in Nebraska University (NU) history to be picked in the seventh round. Under head coach Will Bolt, Sears is the fifth NU pitcher to be selected in the draft’s first 10 rounds, following Spencer Schwellenbach, Cade Povich, Emmett Olson, and Jace Kaminska.
