I-95 in Stamford is among the most congested roadways in the country, according to the latest study by INRIX Inc, a mobility solutions research firm based in Washington state. Stamford’s ignominious ranking was followed closely by New York’s I-278. Only Orlando and LA had stretches of road that eclipse the congestion seen in those locations. Orange County moves ahead with purchase of Sugar Loaf Mountain
Orange County is going ahead with the purchase of the 309-acre property that includes Sugar Loaf Mountain following approval by the County Legislature of two resolutions by 20-0 votes. One resolution determined that there would be no significant adverse environmental impacts from the purchase. The second resolution appropriated $2.21 million to cover the cost, authorized County Executive Steve Neuhaus to sign whatever documents approved by the county attorney were needed to effectuate the purchase and transferred the funds into a new capital project account for the purchase.

Documents case: Prosecutors in the Donald Trump classified documents case have filed a 30-page argument with Federal Court Judge Aileen Cannon in which they push back against efforts by Trump’s attorneys to have Cannon throw out the case. The prosecutors defended the legality of the search process that was used to recover some of the secret government documents Trump had taken. The prosecutors also included never-before-released photographs showing additional classified documents that Trump was hiding at his Mar-a-Lago resort.

Redevelopment proposed for former state prison in Fishkill
Conifer Realty LLC, which is headquartered in Rochester, has been selected by New York state to transform a former state prison into a mixed-use development that would include up to 1,300 housing units when all phases of construction have been completed. The former prison is the Downstate Correctional Facility that was closed in 2022. It is in Fishkill and has been served by the City of Beacon’s sewer and water facilities.
