Inflation report: Inflation remained essentially flat during May according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Numbers released this morning show that the Consumer Price Index was unchanged in May after rising 0.3% in April. Over the last 12 months, the index increased 3.3%. The Federal Reserve Bank has set 2% as its target rate of inflation. The cost of shelter rose in May, up 0.4% for the fourth consecutive month. Food increased 0.1% in May while energy fell 2% over the month, led by a 3.6% decrease in gasoline.
BREAKING NEWS: Hunter Biden found guilty
Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, has been found guilty of gun violations by a federal jury. Hunter Biden had been charged with lying on a government form about his use of drugs and drug addiction when buying a gun. The defense had argued that he believed he was recovering from his addiction and, therefore, believed he was being truthful when filling out the government form. Hunter Biden had been on trial iWilmington, Delaware. The jury deliberated three hours before returning the verdict. He was tried on three felony charges.
Carvana seeks to open facility in Beacon
The automobile sales firm Carvana, which invites customers to buy pre-owned cars via the internet and then pick them up or have them delivered is seeking a presence in Beacon. It proposes to establish a store in the building at 410 Fishkill Ave. in Beacon where Healy Hyundai formerly operated.
