Two Berkshire Peaker Plants Have Been Put in the Past
LEE, Mass. — Two peaker plants in Berkshire County have been out of service for two years and are in the process of demolition. Local environmentalists are rejoicing. "It's phenomenal," said Rosemary Wessel of the Berkshire Environmental Action Team. "To actually see the physical proof of a peaker plant not just shut down but removed is just more than we really expected and it's really great."

Institute of Diversity Sciences Announces 2024-25 Faculty and Student Sloan Fellows
Researchers in computer science and engineering at UMass Amherst and UMass Boston have teamed up to help diversify STEM culture across the UMass system with help from a $499,972 grant from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. The team, called the Sloan Fellows Program, is led by the Institute of Diversity Sciences (IDS) at UMass Amherst and recently selected its second cohort of 12 faculty mentors and 18 undergraduate students.
Massachusetts Hires Diehl As Director Of Hockey Operations
AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts hockey has hired Hunter Diehl as its director of hockey operations, contingent upon the successful completion of a background check, head coach Greg Carvel announced on Monday. Diehl comes to UMass from the Colorado Eagles where he was the video coach and team services contact for the Colorado Avalanche AHL affiliate from 2023 to 2024.
