Westfield Elementary had a very special guest come to our school on May 6,

Caroline Freeman, from Charles H. Stone Memorial Library in Pilot Mountain, recently visited Westfield Elementary School.

“She came to our library to introduce students to their summer programs,” Westfield school officials said. “Carrie Bruce, our school librarian, encouraged our students to take the information given by Caroline home to see if they can attend and increase their love for reading all summer long.

The students learned there are many different activities happening at the library this summer.

“Ee encourage not only our students at Westfield Elementary School, but children throughout the area, to attend these free events. You can check them out online or contact the library directly,” school officials said.

Freeman read to the kindergarten through second grade students. She chose a story titled “Library Lion” by Mindy Sterling. It is about a Lion in the Library who helped with the care of the books and showed great compassion for his friends.

“Caroline is an excellent storyteller. She was very engaged with the students and animated, including participation, leaving the students eager to hear more. She created a fun lion head art activity. She used paper materials, glue, and crayons and popsicle sticks. The students loved it,” school officials said.
