Westfield Coach Named 2024 NJ Boys’ High School Track & Field Coach of the Year

WESTFIELD, NJ — Westfield High School track and field/cross country coach Christopher Tafelski has received national recognition for a second time for his leadership and performance during the 2023-2024 school year, Westfield Public Schools announced Wednesday.

Tafelski has been selected by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association as the 2024 Boys’ High School Track and Field Coach of the Year for the state of New Jersey.

Tafelski was previously recognized in the fall by the USTFCCA as New Jersey's Cross Country Coach of the Year.

According to the USTFCCCA, state-by-state winners were selected based on their teams’ performances throughout the 2024 outdoor track and field season.

The Westfield High School boys track and field team won three state Group 4 championships this year . In June, the team went on to make history at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals.
