Southfield police search for 22-year-old woman with cognitive impairment
(CBS DETROIT) — The Southfield Police Department is searching for 22-year-old Crystal Ballard, who was last seen on Monday afternoon.Police said Ballard, who was diagnosed with cognitive impairment and can be aggressive, left her doctor's appointment at about 3 p.m. She was last seen wearing a pink and white tie-dyed shirt, blue denim shorts and white shoes. Ballard is described as 5 feet 10 inches tall, about 150 pounds with long red hair and blue eyes.Anyone with information on Ballard can contact Southfield police at 248-796-5500.

Man pleads guilty to 2nd-degree murder after appellate court declines to hear case
WASHTENAW COUNTY, MI – A man who previously contested evidence he fatally shot an Ypsilanti man has now pleaded guilty. Roughly three months after the Michigan Court of Appeals declined to consider whether Roger Lee Pierce’s statements to police were inadmissible in court, the 54-year-old pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and using a firearm during a felony, court records show.
Planned music venue on Michigan Avenue in Ypsilanti receives EGLE clean-up grant
A proposed artist and musical venue in Ypsilanti is closer to reality thanks to a brownfield grant from the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy. The proposed venue on the site of the old Materials Unlimited antiques store has been awarded an over-$477,000 EGLE grant. It will be used to pay for lead, asbestos, mold, and hazardous materials surveys, as well as interior and exterior demolition and abatement.
Michigan man killed after thrown from motorcycle into traffic sign during crash
(CBS DETROIT) - A 39-year-old Oakland County man was killed in a motorcycle accident over the weekend, officials said. The incident happened at 2:42 a.m. on Saturday on Woodward Avenue at Osman Street in Pontiac.Authorities say the Waterford Township man was traveling north on Woodward Avenue while operating a 2010 Harley Davidson motorcycle.The man failed to negotiate a curve, and the motorcycle left the roadway. He was then thrown from the motorcycle and struck a traffic sign. He was taken to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries. The man allegedly was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, according to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office. In addition, it is unknown if alcohol was a factor in this crash. The man's identity is being withheld pending next of kin, authorities said.
