Fugitive Wanted for Home Invasion Arrested by U.S. Marshals in Maine
Portland, ME. – Official Release: The U.S. Marshals Service (USMS), Maine Violent Offender Task Force (MVOTF) announces the arrest of Darell Love, 33, of Springfield, MA. On Tuesday, August 13th, 2024, Love was arrested on multiple warrants issued from the Chicopee District Court in Massachusetts to include one count of home invasion, one count of firearm violation with 3 prior violent/drug crimes, one count of kidnapping, two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and one count of larceny.

Caribou day care provider celebrates 30 years with reunion of children
CARIBOU, Maine – Brenda Keaton has taken care of children long enough that she is now welcoming her second generation through the doors of Kids World Day Care. It started 30 years ago when Keaton’s sister, the late Jennifer Beaupre, had her first child, son Jacob, and asked Keaton to be his babysitter. When Keaton started caring for two other children, she and her husband Vaughn renovated a vacant building at 6 Kittinger Drive into a center that today is licensed to serve 21 children and is always full.
Surprise! Wiscasset’s Simmons wins leadership award among Maine town, city, county management peers
Wiscasset Town Manager Dennis Simmons on Wednesday, Aug. 14 won Maine Town, City & County Management Association (MTCMA)’s Leadership Award. In a surprise that town officials worked for weeks to keep from Simmons after Economic Development Director Aaron Chrostowsky got word July 31 of the win, Simmons received the honor at MTCMA’s annual luncheon at Sunday River.

Severe thunderstorm warning issued for part of Somerset County, including Skowhegan
GRAY, Maine — The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for an area in south-central Somerset County in west-central Maine. The warning, which is set to expire at 7 p.m. Wednesday, includes the communities of Skowhegan, Madison, Bingham, Norridgewock, Anson, Cornville, Athens, Embden, Brighton Plantation, Solon, Concord and Starks.
Dogs taken from Coastal Dreams Rescue may soon be up for adoption
BUCKSPORT -- The Maine Department of Agriculture has offered more information surrounding the recent Coastal Dreams Rescue and Sanctuary investigation. According to a statement from the Maine Department of Agriculture Director of Communications, Jim Britt, the Animal Welfare Program relocated twenty seven dogs from Coastal Dreams Rescue and Sanctuary in Bucksport.
Palermo community foundation nets $1,970 at fundraiser barbecue
The August 3 Community Cookout wasn’t just delicious, it was great fun! Anthony Semenovich played his violin and guitar, inspiring some to dance along in the grass, as people finished their desserts and relaxed under the canopies and in the grape arbor. “I saw people scooping up the last crumbs of cornbread from the giant pan,” laughed Phil White Hawk as he helped himself to more pulled pork. Michael O’Brien and his daughter Aubrey delighted the crowd with humorous comments as they drew the raffle prizes that ranged from gift certificates to an Echo trimmer donated by The Home Depot. Many local businesses contributed to the success of the cookout, including Hussey’s General Store, Lakeview Lumber, Bass Pro Shop, and B & B Septic. Ann Sears collected many personal donations of gift cards, handmade items, and tools. There were a couple of anonymous donors as well, whose support is greatly appreciated.
