OCONEE COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – A Westminster man accused of fleeing the authorities following a house fire in early June has been arrested.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday morning that 44-year-old Terry Brandon Ramey has been located and booked into custody.

Ramey was wanted on nine arrest warrants after a welfare check conducted on June 18.

According to deputies, law enforcement responded to a residence on Sweetbriar Trail where Ramey reportedly wanted to harm himself.

Deputies confronted Ramey in an attempt to resolve the issue. During the interaction, Ramey fled to a bedroom and retrieved a rifle. The sheriff’s office said authorities attempted to arrest Ramey when the weapon was pointed at the deputy.

Ramey then set fire to the curtains in the bedroom and fled the scene according to deputies.

    No injuries were reported.

Officials located Ramey and charged him with six counts of resisting arrest, second-degree arson, pointing & presenting a firearm at a person and resisting arrest with a deadly weapon.

Ramey remains in custody at the Oconee County Detention Center.
