The Bolingbrook Area Chamber of Commerce is presenting the Taste of Bolingbrook on Saturday, August 10th. The event will be held at The Promenade mall in Bolingbrook between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m. Food vendors and non food vendors will be on hand plus live music including School of Rock Naperville and Hey Jimmy between 7 and 9 p.m. Admission is free.

Resident Advisory: Reverse 911 Sign-Up
On July 24, 2024, the Will County Sheriff’s Office put out a press release regarding an incident in Joliet that led to an Emergency Notification Alert (reverse 911) being sent out by our Laraway Communications Center – 911 dispatch. The 911 alert advised residents to shelter in place while a search for a suspect was taking place by Sheriff’s deputies and Joliet Police. Several comments were posted on the Will County Sheriff’s Facebook page that brought our attention to some issues such as people in the immediate area not receiving the reverse 911 alert, people in other towns, outside the two mile radius that the alert was sent to, receiving the alert, and other issues.

Shuttered Oak Forest Hospital Provides Unexpected Windfall to Chicago Migrants with Clothing Donations
In a quietly philanthropic move, nearly a thousand new clothing items found their way from the shuttered Oak Forest Hospital to support migrants arriving in Chicago. The Cook County Department of Facilities Management uncovered a cache of 866 pairs of shoes and 81 pairs of pants during preparations for an upcoming partial demolition of the hospital's campus. The hospital, which closed in 2011, once served an impoverished population and now reaches across the divide of time to aid a new group in need.
