Thief steals mail from truck in front of postal worker in West Loop: officials
A suspect stole mail from a USPS truck in front of a postal worker in Chicago's West Loop neighborhood on Monday afternoon, officials said.The mail carrier, a 57-year-old woman, told ABC7 camera that a person jumped in to the back of her truck, grabbed paper mail and ran away.ABC7 Chicago is now streaming 24/7. Click here to watchChicago police said happened on South Aberdeen and West Madison just before 3:30 p.m.She said the thief was not armed and didn't physically harm her. CHICAGO (CBS) -- Illinois State Police are investigating three shootings on Chicago area expressways in less than 24 hours.The first of the three happened Sunday evening on the Dan Ryan Expressway, which historically has seen the most shootings of any Chicago area expressway, including this year. Around 5:15 p.m., a driver was headed south on the Dan Ryan between Roosevelt Road and 18th Street when someone in another vehicle began shooting. Joliet Police Investigating West Side Shooting
On July 29, 2024, at 1:51 a.m., Officers responded to the Fairfield Inn (1501 Riverboat Center Drive) for a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, Officers located multiple spent shell casings on the ground in the parking lot and what appeared to be shattered glass from a vehicle. Following a canvass of the immediate area, Officers were unable to locate any victims or suspects and nothing else appeared to have been struck by gunfire. No shooting victims were located following a check of area hospitals. Officers learned that hotel staff contacted 911 after overhearing multiple rounds of gunfire in the parking lot.

Man Shot Near Downtown Parking Garage, Found By Casino
On July 29, 2024, at 5:08 a.m., Officers responded to Harrah’s Casino (151 North Joliet Street) for a male that had arrived at this location after reportedly being shot at a different location in downtown Joliet. Upon arrival, Officers located a 37-year-old male who had sustained a gunshot wound to each of his legs.
