Couple charged with stealing from outlets
A Salisbury, Md. couple faces theft charges after police say they were caught stealing more than $2,000 in merchandise from several outlet stores near Rehoboth Beach. Police were first called about 5 p.m., Aug. 28, to the Coach outlet in Tanger Outlets Surfside over a stolen duffle bag, but they could not find the perpetrator. About 7 p.m., police again responded to Tanger Outlets Bayside where they learned a couple had stolen items from the Nike store, and were seen in a black Toyota Corolla with Delaware registration.
Fire at Crisfield’s Handy Seafood Under Investigation
CRISFIELD, MD - The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal is investigating a fire that heavily damaged a maintenance shop at Handy Seafood International overnight. According to officials, responders arrived on scene at about 1:45 a.m. on Thursday, August 29th in a crab shedding house. The 50 x 150 ft. building was being used as a maintenance shop, according to the Fire Marshal.
Motor vehicle collision on RT 50
SALISBURY, Md. – On August 30, 2024, at 11:35 am, an on-duty Deputy was westbound on RT 50 stopped at the red traffic signal at Delaware Ave. A vehicle then struck the rear of the deputy’s vehicle. The deputy, driver and passenger in striking vehicle were all treated and released from Tidal Health.
Maryland State Police Investigating Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash
Maryland State Police are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred yesterday evening in Caroline County. The driver and sole occupant of a Ford involved in the crash, identified as 30-year-old Courtney Dunn of Salisbury was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver—identified as 41-year-old Paulton Panton of Preston, Maryland– who was operating a Chevrolet along with a 16-year-old passenger were flown by Maryland State Police Aviation Command to TidalHealth Peninsula Regional in Salisbury and the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore for treatment of their injuries. The crash occurred at the intersection of Maryland Route 16 (Harmony Road) and Grove Road. According to a preliminary investigation, the Ford was traveling south on Route 16 when for unknown reasons, the Chevrolet failed to stop at the intersection and ended up striking the Ford. Anyone with information related to this crash is asked to contact the Maryland State Police Easton Barrack at 410-822-3101. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
Ocean Pines man arrested following an assault
OCEAN PINES, Md. – On August 29, 2024, at 4:51 PM, officers from the Ocean Pines Police Department responded to an alleged altercation on Newport Drive in Ocean Pines. Upon arrival, the officers learned that a subject later identified as 38-year-old Joseph Pavese, had utilized a screwdriver to puncture a tire on a neighbor’s vehicle. The neighbor witnessed this from inside his residence so he called the police and went outside, at which point Pavese approached the neighbor and punched him in the face with a closed fist.
Wicomico County Jury Convicts Salisbury Man of Rape
SALISBURY, MD - A Wicomico County jury has convicted a Salisbury man of multiple charges including rape, sexual offense, and assault stemming from an incident last August. According to the Office of the State’s Attorney for Wicomico County, on August 23, 2023, JN Karl Felix, 24, asked a victim to help him drop his car off at a mechanic’s shop. Afterwards, prosecutors say Felix took the victim to a friend’s apartment to retrieve keys to another car. Authorities say Felix then began kissing and touching the victim without her consent, and the victim struggled against him and demanded he stop. Felix then overpowered and raped the victim, according to the State’s Attorney’s Office.
