The money was to come out of the Governor’s contingency fund, and finally, the people of Benwood would be rid of the nightmare that’s haunted them for decades.

Fairmont State University has plans for nearly $7 million in congressional directed spending
FAIRMONT, W.Va. — Fairmont State University will receive $6.89 million in federally directed spending to go towards three improvement projects. The offices of U.S. Senators Joe Manchin and Shelley Moore Capito announced that the university will receive Congressionally Directed Spending (CDS) funds to support upgrades to the nursing program facilities, library renovations, and campus security system improvements.

Rain showers and thunderstorms start this morning
BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) - Good Morning NCWV! We are starting off this work week with rain showers and storms hitting our area at around 9-10AM! These storms are expected to remain non severe and likely rain shower amounts are from a half inch to an inch of accumulation. High temperatures have cooled down a bit, getting down to the low to mid 80s in the lowlands and the mid 70s in the higher elevations. These rain showers and storms are expected to remain here in NCWV throughout the majority of the day, leaving the area around 10PM. There are a few chances of rainfall on Tuesday throughout the day but a majority of chances remain in the more mountainous regions as well as in the evening hours. These rain showers will continue into Wednesday in the very early morning, seeing even a few pop-up thunderstorms during that time period as well. Highs for Tuesday and Wednesday are very similar to each other, the lowlands are seeing mid to high 80s and in the higher elevations we are seeing temps reach the mid to high 70s.
Area-Wide Rain Showers and Storms Return Tomorrow
BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) - As the area remains under drought conditions, partial relief is on the way in the form of showers and thunderstorms throughout the start of the week. Non-severe showers and storms arrive later in the morning tomorrow and will continue into the early afternoon. Showers remain in the mountains until late tomorrow, with conditions drying for most of the area on Tuesday. More rain chances are set to pick up throughout the middle to end of the week as a stationary front remains over NCWV for the week. Temperatures remain at or below average throughout the week as we hope to see improvements to our drought conditions over the next 2 weeks.
