Janesville Back-2-School Bash is Saturday at Traxler Park
JANESVILLE — The School District of Janesville is holding its 15th annual Back-2-School Bash at Traxler Park from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24. Traxler Park is located at 600 N. Main St., Janesville. Hosted by Janesville Wesleyan Church and the Janesville Community Center, the free event will include food, carnival games, school supplies, socks and underwear (while supplies last), and grand prize giveaways for kids and adults (must be present to win). Other activities will include visiting with police officers, riding the barrel train, running through the obstacle course, free haircuts and face painting. Janesville man arrested on 6th OWI charge
A 45-year-old Janesville man is facing a variety of charges after being arrested for Operating While Intoxicated 6th offense. A Janesville police news release says about 11:30 p.m. Thursday, an officer stopped Joaquin Tomas Sipriano for speeding at East Milwaukee Street and North Parker Drive. The release reports Sipriano had a strong odor of intoxicants coming from his person, and during the stop refused to exit the vehicle and put it into drive in an attempt to leave. Once out of the vehicle, police say Sipriano failed field sobriety tests. He was arrested on charges including Operating while intoxicated, Failing to Install an Ignition Interlock Device, and Resisting an Officer. Sipriano was also currently out of jail on bond for other charges of Operating while Intoxicated.

Name released in fatal Adams County crash
Police have identified the man killed early Thursday in a single-vehicle Adams County crash as 35-year-old Joseph Artuso, of Arkdale. The crash was reported at about 5 a.m. Aug. 22 on County Hwy. Z near Badger Avenue. Police say Artuso lost control of his Toyota Camry and veered off the roadway and into a ditch before striking a culvert. The vehicle overturned, with Artuso inside, according to an Adams County Sheriff’s Department news release.
