Police charge three in Kayla Wright murder
NEWPORT — The man police say shot and killed Kayla Wright, a 29-year-old Derby woman, last February is scheduled to be arraigned on a charge of first-degree murder on July 30. Two other men have already pled innocent to charges of helping to dispose of Ms. Wright’s body by placing it in a toolbox and throwing into the Missisquoi River.
Greater Hartford Children's Reading Literacy Programs Merge
United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut and Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford have announced the merger of their volunteer youth reading programs. Effective immediately, Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford’s Children’s Reading Partners Program will join forces with United Way’s existing United Way Readers program. The summer transition will allow United Way to absorb and amplify the strengths of both programs, setting the stage for a strong beginning this upcoming fall, according to officials of the two organizations.

Community raises surgery funds for dog thrown from vehicle in Avon
