Horseheads’ Levey to compete in NCAA Wrestling Championships

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) – The time is now for the NCAA D-III Wrestling Championships.

Horseheads’ Zach Levey returns to the D-III tourney as a member of Alfred State’s wrestling program at 133 pounds. Levey placed second at the Mideast Regionals and earned a spot in the big show starting Friday in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

Wrestling action starts at Noon Friday and runs through Saturday with the championship round starting at 8 PM that night.

Levey (29-3) will face Desmond Diggs (3-1) of Mount St. Joseph in the opening round of the bracket. Levey’s teammate, Sean Malenfant (32-2), is also in the NCAA D-III Tournament. Malenfant faces Gavin Layman (3-1) of Ohio Northern in the first round at 184 pounds.

Zach made his first NCAA Tournament appearance two years ago as a member of the SUNY Brockport wrestling program. Stick with 18 Sports for more on both Levey and Malenfant as the NCAA Championships progress.
