Hornell hydrant flushing coming up

HORNELL, N.Y. ( WETM ) — The City of Hornell will start flushing hydrants around the area this weekend.

According to the City of Hornell , the city is going to flush hydrants overnight between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. in the Town of Hornellsville, the Village of North Hornell, and the City of Hornell from Saturday, April 20, through Friday, April 26.

Hornell residents should avoid doing laundry while hydrants are being flushed and should check their water for discoloration before using it by running the cold tap. If the water is discolored, let it run until it’s clear before using it.

The City of Hornell is thanking residents for their cooperation during hydrant flushing, which they say is a necessary part of water distribution system maintenance.
