Steuben County utility company to get $2.3M in FEMA funding to fix damaged lines

BATH, N.Y. ( WETM ) — A Steuben County utility company was approved for FEMA funding to make vital repairs on lines that were damaged back in 2021.

According to a release from Congressman Nick Langworthy’s office, Steuben Rural Electric Co-op Inc. was awarded $2,349,547 in FEMA funding to repair distribution lines that Tropical Storm Fred damaged in the fall of 2021.

“Fortifying our power grid should be a major priority for communities across New York State,” Langworthy said, “the infusion of $2.3 million is a step in the right direction for the Southern Tier’s continued access to electrical services,” he said.

This funding is part of FEMA’s Public Assistance Program to restore public infrastructure after emergencies.
