STEUBEN COUNTY, N.Y. ( WETM ) — Steuben County residents who were impacted by Friday’s floods have the opportunity to get help from local human service agencies this week.

Arbor Housing and Development, Catholic Charities of Steuben/Livingston, ProAction of Steuben and Yates Counties, and The United Way of the Southern Tier are coming together in Canisteo, Woodhull, and Greenwood to answer residents’ questions and evaluate their eligibility for future funding assistance. The New York State Department of Financial Services will be in Canisteo to answer questions about insurance and state relief question programs.

How Steuben County residents can report storm damage

Representatives from the agencies will be at the following locations from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 14; Thursday, Aug. 15; and Friday, Aug. 16:

    • Canisteo High School Cafeteria
      • 84 Greenwood St. in Canisteo
      • Park on West Academy Street and enter through the back of the building
    • Greenwood School Building (Jasper-Troupsburg High School)
      • 2661 state Route 248 (Hollywood Boulevard) in Greenwood
    • Woodhull Town Hall
      • 1585 Academy St. in Woodhull
Funding available for Steuben County businesses impacted by flood

People attending these flood relief recovery sessions should bring proof of residency, proof of income, and damage estimate information with them if possible.

The Steuben County Office of Emergency Management says that it’s important for people who have reported damages by calling 211 to attend one of these events, but they’re open to anyone impacted by the flooding. The sessions are geared to help the county gather additional information. Each resident only needs to attend one session, and people will be helped on a first come, first served basis.
