STEUBEN COUNTY, N.Y. ( WETM ) – Local and state highway crews have been working to clear and repair roads that were flooded during the storm last Friday, and some roads are still closed.

The Steuben County Office of Emergency Management announced on Thursday, Aug. 15, that the following roads in Steuben County remain closed to traffic at this time:

    • State Route 36 from Canisteo (Willow Bend) South to Gravel Run (Canisteo)
    • State Route 417 at County Route 126 (Greenwood)
    • County Route 14 from Puffer to County Route 119 (Canisteo)
    • County Route 119 from County Route 128 to state Route 36 at the Carson Bridge (Canisteo)
    • County Route 31 from State Route 36 (northern intersection) to County Route 63 (Canisteo)

The following town roads also remain closed to traffic at this time:

    • Red Spring Run Road (Canisteo)
    • Rock Run (Canisteo)
    • Hanyon Road (Canisteo)
    • Hathaway Hill Road (Canisteo)
    • McChesney Road (Canisteo)
    • Roosa Road (Canisteo)
    • E Union Road from County Route 11 to Bonny Hill Road (Bath)
    • King Hill Road (Greenwood)
    • Norton Hollow (Greenwood)
    • Banks Hollow (Greenwood)

Due to the significant damage that many town roads have sustained from the storms, drivers are advised to avoid these roads until they are repaired. Unnecessary travel on these roads is discouraged at this time to allow emergency responders, public works and clean-up crews to continue their work to repair and provide support to residents.

If drivers must travel in these areas, they are recommended to use extreme caution.
