WESTFIELD, P.A. ( WETM ) — The clean-up continues at a few local businesses in Westfield, Pennsylvania who sustained damages from Tropical Storm Debby. Business owners estimate that it will take another couple of months to complete the clean-up.

Corner Hardware store’s owner Luke Reisinger said there was ten inches of water on the store floor and both basements were flooded. Reisinger estimates the loss of equipment at $100,000. He added that they excavated 300 buckets of mud from both basements.

“The community has really stepped up. We had a lot of volunteers come up through Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, and we had liked teams of six and eight people come in,” said Reisinger. “People I didn’t even ever know, you know I could see them and passing and they just stopped in and pitched in and helped us. Really really thankful for those people that were able to do that for us. We’re still working through it.”

Reisinger’s spouse Rita added that the storm ruined the electronics at their gas pumps.

Near the Corner Hardware store at Westfield Beverage, a portion of the security fence around the property was destroyed. According to the owner Todd White, an inventory of cases of beer, equipment, and two vehicles were lost. White also said that one of his employees lost their vehicle.
