DEERFIELD TWP., Pa. ( WETM ) – Pennsylvania State Police have confirmed an active search to find a man who has been missing since Aug. 9 in Tioga County, Pennsylvania.

David Murdock, 66, was last seen in the area of State Route 249 in Deerfield Township on Aug. 9 around 1:30 p.m. wearing an orange t-shirt, gray shorts, a white baseball hat and muck boots. David is a 6′ white man with gray hair and brown eyes.

According to Public Information Officer from Troop F of the Pennsylvania State Police, Lauren Lesher, the joint effort search between state police, local agencies and volunteers comes after David was swept away by flood waters that accumulated from the storms in Tioga County last week. Police believe that David may be at special risk of harm or injury.

The Knoxville-Deerfield Volunteer Fire Company released a statement on Wednesday, Aug. 14, from the Murdock Family, which reads:

“The Murdock family would like to express our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the Knoxville-Deerfield Volunteer Fire Company, the many, many search organizations, and the hundreds of community volunteers who have worked tirelessly during these difficult times.

The outpouring of love and support that our family has received has been uplifting and overwhelming. We are grateful for this amazing community.

We ask for your continued prayers and support as the search continues.”

Anyone with any information on David Murdock is asked to contact police immediately by calling 911 or the Pennsylvania State Police Mansfield Barracks at 570-662-2151.
