Taco Bell could be coming to Elmira’s Southside

Update (8/23): As a result of the vote by the Chemung County Planning Board in its meeting on Thursday, the proposal has been passed down to the City of Elmira for local determination.

The county also provided a list of recommendations for the site plan for the restaurant to be followed if the city follows through with the proposal.

ELMIRA, N.Y. ( WETM ) — Taco Bell lovers in Elmira can rejoice as a new standalone Taco Bell is up for vote according to an agenda from the Chemung County Planning Board.

In the agenda for Thursday, Aug. 22, a proposal for a new Taco Bell restaurant with a drive-thru is up for site approval for a currently empty lot at 370 S Main St. in Elmira. The location is within 500 feet of the Chemung County Board of Elections building.

The proposal is being put forward by the Hospitality Restaurant Group out of Liverpool, NY, and would make the third Taco Bell location in Chemung County. The other locations can be found in Southport connected to the KFC and the other in Big Flats along county Route 64.

The Chemung County Planning Board has a meeting scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 22, at 3 p.m. to vote on the site plan for the restaurant.
