    Doggy Dip Days coming up in Horseheads

    HORSEHEADS, N.Y. ( WETM ) — People can’t swim in the Thorne Street Pool until next summer, but their furry friends have a few chances to take a dip.

    For the past 19 years, Horseheads has kept the Thorne Street Pool (located at 504 Thorne St.) open for a few days after the regular swimming season ends to let dogs swim in the pool for Doggy Dip Days. The pool closed for humans on Aug. 23 this year, and dogs will get their chance to use the pool from Aug. 27 to Aug. 29.

    Back to school dates in the Twin Tiers for the 2024 school year

    Dog owners can bring up to two dogs to take a swim between noon and 2:30 p.m. or between 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday. The fee for Doggy Dip Days is $5 per dog.

    The Village of Horseheads Department of Parks and Recreation encourages dog owners to bring their pup’s favorite toy and not to forget a towel.
