Nice Tuesday, but severe is coming

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) – Tuesday looks amazing! Beautiful skies, wonderful mild conditions, and overall pretty darn great. However, our trough will get booted out of the way by an area of low pressure and as it shifts to the northeast tomorrow we should expect more toughing across part of Canada.

This will result in a mix-up between our high pressure and the oncoming low pressure. This system is eventually going to become a stationary boundary because our high pressure is so strong and the impending low is potent, they will in their own way cancel each other out.

The unstable air mass heading towards the Twin Tiers will result in the potential for damaging winds and large hail moving in by late Tuesday and into Wednesday night. Then more rain into Thursday. The clouds will be slow to move. Thus putting us into an unsettled pattern through part of the weekend before clearing for Labor Day.
