Move-In Day at Elmira College

ELMIRA, N.Y. ( WETM ) — Transfer and incoming students embark on a new chapter in their lives on Move-In Day at Elmira College for the upcoming academic year. It is one of the largest classes Elmira College has had within the last five years.

The incoming students received assistance from upper-class students and members of Elmira College sports teams as they moved into their residence halls. Transitioning from high school to college and being away from family is a significant change for many students.

First-year student Ellen Le felt a mix of excitement and nervousness about starting college while expressing homesickness after moving away from her home in Beaverton, Oregon.

“I just hope to grow as a person, be able to meet new people, broaden my perspectives and become a better person,” said Le.

For any new students beginning their college careers, junior Paige Cotton encourages them to be open to any possibilities and try new things. She also recommends that they reach out to teachers and peers for any help.

Senior Mohamed Koroma of the Elmira College men’s soccer team added that students should not hesitate to ask any questions or seek guidance from any of the services provided on campus.

“If you have doubts about anything, ask your friends, or if you don’t feel comfortable, ask professors and ask friends,” said Koroma.

The first day of classes at Elmira College will begin on Monday, September 2.
