Corning man arrested on fentanyl charges

CORNING, N.Y. ( WETM ) — A Corning man was arrested for allegedly having and selling fentanyl.

Sean L. Murray, 53, was arrested on Aug. 29 after a police investigation into the sale and possession of fentanyl. According to the Corning City Police Department, officers pulled Murray over at about 11:30 a.m. on Thursday in the City of Corning and arrested him at the scene. Officers immediately went to Murray’s Griffith Street home after the traffic stop and searched it on a warrant from the Steuben County Court.

Murray was charged with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (class B felonies), two counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance (class B felonies), one count of third-degree attempted criminal possession of a controlled substance (a class C felony), and one count of fourth-degree conspiracy (a class E felony).

According to the Corning Police Department, Murray, who is a certified New York State Registered Nurse, was on pre-trial release for numerous high-level narcotic charges at the time of his arrest. After his Aug. 29 arrest, Murray was processed at the Corning Police Department. His charges were then read in the Steuben County Court, and he was released. Murray will appear back in court at a later date.

The Village of Bath Police Department assisted the Corning City Police Department with the fentanyl investigation that led to Murray’s arrest.
