ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) – NASCAR driver William Byron is looking for more at Watkins Glen International.

After this Sunday’s race in Atlanta kicking off the NASCAR Playoffs, Byron will have the shot to repeat at The Go Bowling at The Glen on Sunday, September 15 at WGI. The green flag drops at 3 PM and the race will be nationally televised on USA Network. Byron has the opportunity to go back-to-back in the NASCAR race amid a postseason atmosphere.

The famous road course serves as a playoff track this season with the schedule pushed back from it’s typical August slot on the slate due to the Olympic games.

On Wednesday, 18 Sports had the opportunity to speak with Byron via Zoom discussing his thoughts on his great success over the past few years. Last season, Byron won six times on the circuit and has already taken three races this year including the prestigious Daytona 500.

Byron’s crew chief, Rudy Fugle, has local ties to the region as part of Hendrick Motorsports. Fugle is a native of Livonia.

Make sure to watch The Glen All-Access NASCAR on Friday, September 13 at 7 PM on WETM-TV. 18 Sports will be live from the track that night and throughout the weekend for all of your race coverage.
