Elmira College men’s wrestling releases schedule

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) – The Elmira College men’s wrestling program is looking for a big year on the mats.

Second year coach John Franchi returns as head coach for the Soaring Eagles. Franchi, an Elmira Heights native who’s had great success in mixed martial arts fighting, competed in World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) which eventually became part of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

John was also a standout at Edison High School for the Spartans in wrestling and for Glider “3 Style” Wrestling Club in the early 2000’s. Thursday, coach Franchi and the school revealed its upcoming wrestling schedule.

Action begins for the Soaring Eagles Friday, November 1 at the Ithaca Invitational. The following week, Elmira hosts East Stroudsburg at 7 PM at Speidel Gymnasium on Thursday, November 7 at 4 pm. Below, the full slate for Elmira College men’s wrestling this season.
