Southern Tier man and woman arrested after Montour camper theft

MONTOUR, N.Y. ( WETM ) — A Watkins Glen man and a Horseheads woman were arrested after allegedly stealing a camper from Montour last August and living in it for months.

Kyle K. Rogers, 38, and Shelby L. Narde, 32, were arrested after a multiple-month-long investigation into a reported camper theft. According to the New York State Police, troopers received a complaint about a stolen 2002 Holiday Rambler Presidential camper on Sept. 1, 2023. The camper had been stolen from the Town of Montour between Aug. 26 and Aug. 28 of the same year.

On April 22, 2024, troopers received information that stated the camper might be on Bennett Road in the Town of Dix. Troopers then found the camper parked in a yard on Bennett Road. Police say a further investigation found that Rogers and Narde had been living in the camper in that location since August 2023.

Rogers and Narde were both arrested on the charge of third-degree criminal possession of stolen property (a class D felony) on warrants after a Schuyler County Grand Jury.

Narde was processed at the New York State Police Barracks in Montour Falls on July 13 and taken to the Schuyler County Jail for CAP arraignment. Rogers, who was incarcerated for a separate crime, was processed on Aug. 29 and returned to the New York State Department of Corrections.
