    Potter County man arrested on attempted homicide charges

    COUDERSPORT, Pa. ( WETM ) — A Ulysses man is facing attempted homicide charges after a shooting in Coudersport.

    Stephen William Connolly, 39, was arrested on more than a dozen charges on Sept. 7. According to the Pennsylvania State Police Department, Connolly went to a Cherry Springs Road home at about 5 a.m. on Saturday with the intent to harm one of the residents. Connolly reportedly fired shots inside the home, and police were called to the scene.

    When troopers arrived, Connolly was allegedly inside the home arguing with a 49-year-old male resident. A 29-year-old woman, a 53-year-old woman, a 6-year-old child, and a 12-year-old child were also inside the home at the time of the incident. Police did not share if any of the victims were injured.

    Police say Connolly didn’t cooperate with troopers and was shocked with a Taser before being arrested. He was charged with the following:

    • Attempted criminal homicide (Homicide 1)
    • Attempted criminal homicide (Homicide 2)
    • Attempted criminal homicide (Homicide 3)
    • Burglary (Felony 1)
    • Aggravated assault (Felony 1)
    • Possession of a prohibited firearm (Felony 1)
    • Aggravated assault (Felony 2)
    • Criminal trespass (Felony 3)
    • Terroristic threats (Misdemeanor 1)
    • Possession of an instrument of a crime (Misdemeanor 1)
    • Recklessly endangering another (Misdemeanor 2)
    • Criminal mischief (Misdemeanor 2)
    • Simple assault (Misdemeanor 2)
    • Simple assault (Misdemeanor 3)
    • Criminal trespass (Summary)

    Connolly was arraigned in District Court and then taken to the Potter County Jail. He is currently being held without bail.

    Coudersport Ambulance and Coudersport-based paramedics assisted the Pennsylvania State Police Department at the scene.
